FOBISIA Badminton 2024 @ SCG Badminton Academy, hosted
by Shrewsbury International School Bangkok, Riverside x TEEMS is delighted to invite you to take part in the inaugural FOBISIA BADMINTON TOURNAMENT to be held at SCG Badminton Academy from Friday June 7 - Saturday June 8 2024.
Age groups
● Boys - U11, U13, U15 ● Girls - U11, U13, U15 Date of Birth - Date of Birth will apply based on age as of August 1 2023. Each player may only enter into one age division but can play up one age group.
Format / Draw
Schools will enter teams of 8 players - (3 singles players, 2 doubles teams and 1 reserve who can swop in between each match) Space is limited to 12 teams per age group / gender The shuttlecocks being used for this event are Yonex AS10 Draw format will be round robin groups leading into knockout rounds Student seedings must be entered a minimum of 14 days prior to the event commencing Scoring will be the standard scoring system - first to 21 points with 3 sets for each match
Tournament Schedule
● Thursday June 6 Non - Overseas students will arrive in Bangkok in the afternoon/evening and check into the hotel. ● Friday June 7 7.00am - practice courts will open for competitors 7.45am - opening ceremony 8.00am - first matches of the day will commence 6.00pm - last matches of the day commence ● Saturday June 8 7.00am - practice courts will open for competitors 7.45am - first matches of the day will commence 5.30pm - last matches of the day commence 7.00pm - GALA Dinner. A wonderful opportunity to recap the event to date and make new friends. This will be finished by 9:00 pm ● Sunday June 9 Overseas schools depart
Tournament Fee
The entry fee is 2950 THB (approximately 80 USD) per player which includes; ● Tournament entry ● Badminton tournament souvenir ● Lunch Friday & Saturday ● Prizes and trophies for all winners and runners-up As part of the tournament fee and in addition to the badminton competition there will be a range of other activities, workshops and information shared with competing students during their time at FOBISIA Badminton 2024 ● US College pathways webinar with Study and Play USA ● Nutritional advice ● Mind Strength training programs and mentorship available ● Access to 1:1 strength and conditioning training, with personalised programmes and an online coach to support your ambitions after the event and in your own time ● Skills challenge ● And various fun events to further enhance the experience for all
Refreshments
Water will be supplied throughout the tournament, and a mid-morning snack of fruit each day.
Tournament Souvenir
Every athlete and coach/teacher will receive a FOBISIA Badminton souvenir
Accommodation
Accommodation is for a minimum of 3 nights (6th – 9th June 2023). The costs below include breakfast and dinner at the hotel (lunch is included in the meet price above). The rate is inclusive of government tax and service charges. Additional room nights are available - please contact for more information.
Airport Transfers
This can be arranged for all schools requiring the service. Please email if you require this option.
Registration
● Please complete the registration link indicating your initial interest in joining the Tournament with an estimate of student and staff numbers. FOBISIA schools can register interest before November 30th. After this date, other non FOBISIA schools may be invited to attend if appropriate, ● After initial registration we will send further information asking you to confirm your accommodation preference, final team numbers, ages - based on FOBISIA rules age is by August 1, 2023 e.g. An U13 student will be age 12 or under on August 1st, 2023. ● Invoices will then be sent, please note final confirmation is only when payment has been made in full. We will also confirm this via email once payment has been made. ●Schools can enter multiple teams per age group to provide playing opportunities for as many students as possible. Please note this when registering.
Cancellation Policy
In the event of a cancellation by a participant/s (such cancellation taking place not less than fourteen (14) days prior to the event), the following cancellation charges will apply:
